Today I had a nice long walk with the elephant Trio. We stopped at a number of Morula trees that are now dropping some fruit, enough to occupy three busy trunks for five or ten minutes per tree but not yet at peak Morula production. Between trees, in an emerald green flood plains we were priveldged to see a variety of wildebeast, impala, zabra and girrafe. I was amused to see a very cute small single giraffe in surrounded by a herd of zebra. Baboons had beat us to the punch under one tree and cast off skins and slimy seeds were all we found. Jabu managed to pull down a few juicy Morula branches and happily munched leaves, green fruit, bark and wood. The girls could not reach any branches of their own so they gathered fruit from the ground and Thembi finally managed to snatch a few twigs from Jabu. On down the Morula circut a few trees morula, the elephant found a huge branch that a previous proboscidean (elephant) dinner must have abandoned. Our happy herd gathered, gobbled, munched and crunched until Jabu got bored and got rough housing with a large left over branch.
